What We Do

CLIMATE CHANGE & ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY

At WAGA we understand that these threats increase environmental, climate and related stresses that directly contribute to prominent climate insecurities and instability. We look forward to working extensively in securing our climate and environment using our research knowledge and skills.

Environmental Security and Peacebuilding

WAGA explores the connections between human insecurity and environmental change, health & Safety, and population dynamics and their links to conflict and national policy.  We believe that, natural resources depletion, including water scarcity and desert encroachment, are factors in conflict and affect national and international security.

Sustainable Development and Climate Resilience

We advocate for not only maintaining, but also enhancing the natural environment in policies across government sectors. Biodiversity has suffered decades of declines which must be reversed through a strategic, large-scale approach to habitat and ecosystem restoration, replacement and creation, and sustainable land management

WATER SANITATION AND HYGIENE (WASH)

WAGA recognizes the role of WASH in peace-building across developing nations of the world. It is not in doubt that disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and environmental protection is fundamental to building community resilience. In this regard, WAGA will ensure that WASH program designs must be risk-informed in order to enhance community resilience.

To improve WASH services, WAGA will partner with relevant government agencies, private sector, international organizations and foundation, to introduce various WASH programs aimed at improving the water & sanitation facilities for our community and country at large.

Agricultural Development & Support Services

We support inclusive agricultural development focusing on three main interventions. At WAGA, we assist communities and small holder farmers with resources and technical advice on organic farming .We also provide guidance and specialized trainings on chemical handlings and pest control management. Our experienced scientist can assist individuals/communities with composting manure making and develop a Conservation Plan to solve other problems identified in the farm.

Some of our commitment includes:

  • Meeting the requirements set by the regulators (e.g. Federal Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development, Food and Agricultural Organization etc.) on agricultural safety rules and regulations.
  • Safe handling and precautionary measures on the use of agro chemicals.
  • Training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
  • Creating awareness and educating communities through campaign and other activities including updating and creating compost resources to raise public understanding of composting and its benefits.
  • Identifying microbial risks and introduce practices that reduce these risks.
  • Creating awareness on guidelines for safety practices on the farm.
  • Introducing microorganisms relevant to agricultural safety, application and where they may be found on the farm.

Research and Development

At WAGA we focus on creating forums for analytical researches, communication, discussion and taking actions with future-oriented journals that contributes both theoretical and practice-based knowledge for a sustainable, heath and friendly environment.  With the view of elevating the standards and profile of professional climate and environmental management for the benefit of nature and society at large.
